Aerosol v0.59 - Wardriving for Windows - sniph@stolenshoes.net
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aerosol is easy to use wardriving software for PRISM2 Chipset, ATMEL USB and WaveLAN
Wireless cards on Windows. Its lightweight, written in C, free, and uh, just works!
Please mail me with any comments, questions or suggestions.
Current features
----------------
- Multiple Adapter type support (Now supports WaveLAN/orinoco!)
- Tested on all versions of Windows
- Auto scanning, to kick the Prism2 chip when it stops scanning automatically.
Note 1: Auto Scan is on by default for PRISM2, and as such will boot you from any Access
Point it locates if a new channel is not scanned within about 10 seconds. Thus, don't run
this software if you are planning on using your card for legitimate network traffic.
Note 2: Registry keys are stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Aerosol. Delete them if you don't
want them there any more.
Note 3: WEP crack mode doesnt exist, but the radio is there to make sure I finish it :)
Troubleshooting
---------------
Unfortunately the volume of Aerosol email has finally overwhelmed me. I do read most mail but now
dont have the time to send personal responses to all of your questions. Sorry :(
** Before mailing your troubleshooting question - set HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Aerosol/Debug to
1. Run Aerosol again, and send the generated logfile with your question. **
1) If you get the error 'Couldn't start the PCANDIS protocol driver.', check your system for the
following files - w32n50.dll, pcandis3.vxd, pcandis4.sys, pcandis5.sys. These should be copied
either to your aerosol extraction directory, or into your windows/system (95/98) or system32 (NT)
directory. If you have none of these files, there is a link from the main page as to where you
can get them.
2) If you get a 'Card Does Not Appear To Be PRISM2 (Invalid Channel)' error it usually means
your card isn't responding to standard PRISM2 requests. This is a known bug with Aerosol and as of
this release has not been resolved.
3) If you are using the ATMEL hybrid USB adapter, you must have the PCAUSA drivers installed.
OS Support
----------
It has been tested to work successfully as of v0.51 on all Windows platforms.
This doesnt mean we are completely bugfree :) - Please mail me and tell me how it went.

Future Card Support
-------------------
I'm not planning on buying any more Wireless hardware. If you have a favourite card you would like
support added for, and you can send me hardware to test and attempt to add support for, I'm
more than happy to accept donations. Hey, if I can't make it work, then I'll send it back!
Thanks

Ken Foster for the Avaya Gold card - WaveLAN support would be non existent in this release without this. Thanks Ken!
